We loved the story of the 'Little Red Hen' so much that we decided to spend another week working on it.
We had lots of fun acting out the story and it was really good to see how well the children remembered the order of the events as well as some of the words found in the text.
We made bread last week, so this week we went for jam sandwiches!
We talked about the ingredients we would need and what we might need to do first.
Children worked mostly independently and enjoyed their treat.

'Is it too much butter?' |
 |
'You have to spread the butter first'. |
 |
'Carefully spread the butter'. |
 |
'Hmmm, I like jam sandwiches'... |
In PE we solved more problems playing the 'Mine Field'.
The children worked in pairs. One partner wore a blind fold while the other worked as a guide to instruct their partner across the mine field. The instructing partner was not to touch their partner at any time. Once they crossed the mine field they switched places.
We saw lots of good work and instructions. Well done!
Shape Hunt
Since we have become shapes detectives we went on a local walk to see what shapes are out there...
Can you name the shapes??
We counted how many sides were in the climbing frame and became part of the shape...which shape is that?
We have learned a new skill in maths today, partitioning. We have been finding out how to break numbers into smaller parts, tens and ones.
We also concluded our work on the Little Red Hen with a fantastic Big Write, we retold the story in our own words. They were fantastic and will be in our Acorn books for you all to see next time you come in.
Finally, we have a very important fixture next week. Our first Sports Day, We had so much fun practising... Next Thursday is set to be a lot of fun!
To finish our week we had another trip to see Maggie and her chicks. They are now 10 days old. We had hoped to be able to hold them today but Maggie was feeling very protective and kept them well hidden so that we couldn't catch them.
