Week Beginning 12th April 2021

Welcome back everyone! We hope you had a very happy Easter holidays.

Time flies and here we are starting the SUMMER TERM!!

YOGA NEWS....

We have been practicing a new pose: FROG POSE.

Take a look at the pictures below

Squat down with your heels close together and slightly off the ground.

Put your fingertips on the floor in front of your feet.

Inhale and straighten your legs bringing your head close to your knees keeping your fingers on the floor.

This pose is great for strengthening legs’ muscles and improving balance. It stretches an activate foot muscles. Well done class 1!

We have also started a new topic....Wish you were here. (Topic letters should be the children's reading bags)

This week we have used the book the Snail and the Whale, as the snail takes a ride right around the world seeing all sorts of wonderful things.

Reggie and Miss Pace added our very own whale to our outdoor area.

We have used this as a starter to inspire the children to think about where they would like to go and why?

We will then use this to inspire our planning throughout the term, so far it looks as though we could be travelling back in time, be off to the funfair or even take a trip to the seaside.

Watch this space!

in Maths this week we have been thinking about numbers and how to represent them in different ways, e.g if you see a digit, can you represent that number with the bead strings?

Some of this took this further, by creating our very own digit cards with larger numbers on them to make it more of a challenge.

To finish the week some of us helped out in the outdoor area, planting some pots to add a bit of colour.

Finally we finished the week with a science experiment, as in our book, we talked about a whale becoming beached on the shore.  We set up a model of this and then had to decide how we could free him?
After lots of discussion Jennifer suggested water, so we tested her ideas to see if it worked.

What a busy first week back, have a lovely weekend everyone.
