Incy Wincy spider has kept us busy this week with sequencing the story and much more...
We had fun singing and acting out the rhyme together.
We made lots of spiders out of play dough and children worked on developing their fine motor skills trying to catch our pretend spiders with tweezers.
One of our independent challenges this week was to make play dough spiders....
We stepped back a little too and revisited Jack and Jill as we wanted to find out if it is easier to walk up a hill with an empty bucket or walk downhill with a full bucket. Take a look.
It wasn't as easy as we thought....and although the majority of children thought the empty bucket journey uphill was the easiest, some children actually preferred walking downhill with a full pail of water. Interesting!
In Maths we have been thinking about the 'composition' of 5 (how it's made)
We played a great game, where Farmer Frank had to get his animals into the barn while someone was sleeping... we then had to wake up and see if we could see how many were hidden and how many we could see...
I can see 3 so 2 must be hiding....that means 3 + 2 make 5.
Fine motor / hand eye coordination continued this week with these lovely spiders / webs.
We had to complete a cutting skills challenge to make our spiders and a sewing by numbers challenge to make the web.
Don't they look great?
Today in our Nature Schools session, we took part in the ‘Big
Bird Watch’ this a part of a national
project and we are one of many schools taking part.
We spotted a huge number of birds while we were out, of
all different shapes and sizes.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
