Week Beginning 6.11.2017

Welcome back to our weekly blog. This week has brought lots of fun and new ideas to our setting.
Children and teachers have worked together to build a car in the outdoor area. The children have already travelled far with their friends. Some have chosen to visit Peppa Pig World, others have gone to London for a day trip. Drivers have shared the long journeys fairly and have not forgotten to take their driving licences with them. Take a look:

"We are off to Peppa Pig World"

"We are going to London to see the Wheel"

Supported by the adults children have built their own boats using a piece of kitchen foil. The aim was to build a boat strong enough to carry as many 'penny passengers' as possible.
Children tested their boats and talked about why their boats sunk and thought of ways to improve their designs.

Some tested their boats with dinosaur passengers.

 "Oh nooo! It's too heavy!"

Children have expressed great interest in the Ninja Turtles so they worked hard with Mrs Cox to create some turtle shells for them to use in their role play.

It's all coming together...

Meanwhile 'Shredder' is taking over the world......Mwahaha!!!!

Will the Ninja Turtle stop the baddies????

In maths this week we have begun to think about adding and subtracting numbers.  We have done this in a variety of different ways,

'Miss Welby look, these all make 7 and the towers are the same size!'

Different ways of making 7 using the number bars.

Rub-a-dub-dub some men in a tub, the sea got bumpy and some fell out...
The children listened to number stories and solved them by writing the number sentences on their whiteboards.

Finally to finish, making men in the tub or (bowl.)  The children baked their own little men biscuits and Mrs Kett cooked them for us just in time for morning snack.

Yummy!

We are set for a busy week of learning next week themed around the turtles, as chosen by the children.

Have a lovely weekend everybody.
