Week Beginning 17th September 2018

Welcome back to week two in Reception. It has been a long week but all the children have had a wonderful start to their school journey at Wenhaston and we have been amazed as to what a confident and happy group they have been, greeting us in the mornings with smiles and “Good Morning’s!”. We have loved getting to know the class more and more each day and already observing their characters and personalities emerge as they have played together. Children are getting to know the various areas around the classroom and school, engaging in activities inside as well as out. We are still working on tidying up and sometimes lining up too but we are pretty confident that will happen.
Have a look at our busy bees...
'I did it! I can balance the shapes on the moon!'

'Look at my tower it's so tall'

'I made a super high magic wand'.

'Let's measure you, wow you are that tall!'

Some of us have started to bring in our own ideas from home.  Freya found a lovely feather on her walk to school on Wednesday morning and used it to make this lovely picture to take home for her family.

We have been enjoying a selection of different puzzles, working both independently and with friends to wok out how to assemble them all.

Builders have also been busy in the construction area, team work allowed this HUGE tower to be assembled which we counted was 20 bricks high.

We have also been rather interested in robots, some of us managed to construct this rather fantastic creation known as...Bob-a-dee!

Bob-a-dee spent two days in our class as a guest and even had his own chair at the milk table on Friday.

Others just thought it would be better to actually be a robot.

In the dinner hall the children are still getting used to collecting their food and getting it to the table, we are also trying hard to remember to sit at the table and use our knives and forks independently, saving our spoons for pudding.  Please help us by trying to reinforce these skills at home-many thanks.

You will find the next set of sounds in the children's diaries today for you to look at over the weekend, just a few minutes each day talking about the sounds or looking through the reading books really helps the children on their journey to becoming a reader.  Please feel free to write a comment in their diary too.  if there is anything else you need  to pass on you can also put this in the diary or catch one of us in the playground in the mornings.

Have a super weekend everyone.
