Week Beginning 16th December 2019

And so... this is Christmas!!
What a great term we have had in Class One!! A big WELL DONE to everybody for their hard work.
As you can imagine our last week of term has been a busy one.
We started off with a trip to Ipswich theatre to see 'Cinderella'. A huge thank you to Lyla- Mae's mummy for organising a meeting with the star of the show: two adorable snow-white ponies.
Take a look:

Thank you to all the parents who made it to our Christmas share and contributed to another impressive piece of art: The Gingerbread House.

A Festive Bake later in the week kept us all busy too.

Finally.... we had a very special visitor to end the afternoon on friday.

All that is left to say is....Have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS.
The children have all worked so hard throughout their first term in Reception and all deserve a lovely rest.

Friday 13 December 2019

Wow! What a busy week.

We have to say a HUGE WELL DONE to all of our wonderful actors and actresses who worked their magic in our production of Tinsel on Wednesday.
We were all very proud.

We also had a little surprise to find out that we had had an unexpected visitor to Class 1...Trixie.
One of us found her in our Christmas tray along with a card, she had left us a Christmas treat for our fantastic performance on stage.

We have kept busy in class with lots of Christmassy activities.....

As well as keeping all of our usual jobs going such as Phonics, Reading and Maths.

To finish the week, the Banger Car arrived Friday morning so Class 1 wasted no time at all getting our to paint their side.

As expected the children are all tired and ready for their weekend, ahead of our final activity packed week, next week.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Week Beginning 2nd December 2019

All things Winter.
We read this beautiful story and talked about winter colours. We noticed that the illustrator of this book chose mainly white and blue colours. We decided to have a go at painting on blue paper with white paint only and this is the result:

                                                                 Very pretty.

In maths we looked at 2D and 3D shapes and went on a shape hunt around the school.
Can you spot the shapes?
'This is a rectangle'

More rectangles.

                                              'I'm standing in a circle'.
                                                          'That's a circle too'.
'A cone and if you turn it upside down you could put ice cream in it'.
'A pom pom is like a sphere'
                                                           'Square'

'And a cylinder'.

Our shape work continued throughout the week and concluded with a great feely bag activity, working with a partner, one of us had to pick and hide a shape and a friend had to work out what it was by listening to a description about its properties or asking for clues.

Elsewhere and the children have been busy with Christmas activities...

A little preparation for a gift to bring home later in the term.

And of course, the Christmas Play; we tried our costumes on today, well done everyone, they look fantastic!
Thanks to everyone who has made or purchased these for the children.
Well done to my little team of helpers that have been helping to get the scenery ready too.

Have a lovely weekend everyone and we look forward to seeing at the performances next Wednesday at 1 o'clock and 5 o'clock.

Week Beginning 25th November 2019

Image result for autumn pictures"
This week we have enjoyed learning more about Autumn. We went for a walk in the school field to collect some crunchy and colourful leaves that had fallen from the trees. We have enjoyed listening to Autumn poems such as 'Autumn Leaves' and made some lovely leaves art work.
Take a look.

On Monday we had a very special visitor in school: S’s daddy who is a Police Officer. He came in to tell us about his job and what the Police do to keep us safe. We looked at his special uniform and some of the things that police officers have to carry at all times to help them with their jobs. They always carry: a radio (which they use to talk to each other if they need help or back up), a pen and a notebook to keep notes of what they do and important things they need to remember; a special stick, a spray and handcuffs to use only if people are not doing the right thing, to keep them and others safe.
We have learnt so many things and would like to say a big Thank you from all of us!

'It looks like a phone'

One of the teachers was arrested by the children....

And some of us got to dress up!

Once again a very big Thank you to our visitor.

The children are really getting into our Christmas Play rehearsals, one of us even decided to write the song words on the board for everyone to read.
'I am good at helping out...'

Our Class reading this week and we have enjoyed some more freeze frame activities.

Finally we completed the next part of our class creation; our patchwork quilt.

Today we transferred the designs we had completed on paper last week, to our material using Brusho.

They look wonderful, next we can put them altogether.
Apologies to anyone who's children came home with colourful hands, it will come off after a few washes.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
