Week Beginning 19th April 2021

Apologies for the late post, the website was down on Friday afternoon and wouldn't let me publish the post.

YOGA: We continued from last week and added movements to our frog pose. We stretched our legs and lifted our bottoms (froggies). We then crouched down again and leapt up high, hopping all around.

We then continued indoors and sat in a quiet spot to meditate and find our inner selves...

                                                   Breath in...and out....

Push away any thoughts and empty your head...

                                                           Relax!

This term we are planning our work following the children's interests and suggestions. Each child has been given the opportunity to think of a place where they wish they could be...

Leo suggested funfairs as a place to be.

Have a look at some of the our funfair maps and rides...

Helter Skelter rides

                                               Boat rides
                                                        Ferris wheel
                                                           Dens and hot-dogs!

We then designed posters to advertise these.

We also spent time looking at some fairground art, by a particular artist, inspired by this some of us made some name labels with our name in lights, or worked on this collaborative piece for our classroom door.

Finally we spent time outside using bits and pieces from the circus skills box to help our hand and eye coordination.

I wonder who's 'Wish you were here request we will be following next week and where it will take us?

Have a lovely weekend everyone and enjoy this lovely sunshine.

Week Beginning 12th April 2021

Welcome back everyone! We hope you had a very happy Easter holidays.

Time flies and here we are starting the SUMMER TERM!!

YOGA NEWS....

We have been practicing a new pose: FROG POSE.

Take a look at the pictures below

Squat down with your heels close together and slightly off the ground.

Put your fingertips on the floor in front of your feet.

Inhale and straighten your legs bringing your head close to your knees keeping your fingers on the floor.

This pose is great for strengthening legs’ muscles and improving balance. It stretches an activate foot muscles. Well done class 1!

We have also started a new topic....Wish you were here. (Topic letters should be the children's reading bags)

This week we have used the book the Snail and the Whale, as the snail takes a ride right around the world seeing all sorts of wonderful things.

Reggie and Miss Pace added our very own whale to our outdoor area.

We have used this as a starter to inspire the children to think about where they would like to go and why?

We will then use this to inspire our planning throughout the term, so far it looks as though we could be travelling back in time, be off to the funfair or even take a trip to the seaside.

Watch this space!

in Maths this week we have been thinking about numbers and how to represent them in different ways, e.g if you see a digit, can you represent that number with the bead strings?

Some of this took this further, by creating our very own digit cards with larger numbers on them to make it more of a challenge.

To finish the week some of us helped out in the outdoor area, planting some pots to add a bit of colour.

Finally we finished the week with a science experiment, as in our book, we talked about a whale becoming beached on the shore.  We set up a model of this and then had to decide how we could free him?
After lots of discussion Jennifer suggested water, so we tested her ideas to see if it worked.

What a busy first week back, have a lovely weekend everyone.
