Week Beginning 22nd November

Apologies to all, unfortunately our camera has decided to stop working this week. please bear with us whilst we wait for the new camera to arrive.....

As always we have started the week revising some of the yoga poses we have learnt so far and tried an new one: BOW POSE.

Lying on your tummy bend your knees and reach your arms back to hold your ankles. Pull you legs up and back, 'stringing the bow'.
This is a great pose to stretch your entire body and strengthen the large muscles in your back and legs.

No need to say all of the children put a lot of effort into this and managed to find their ankles the first time round.  ๐Ÿ‘

Winter is well and truly on its way and, as part of our topic, we have shared facts we already know  about this season and discovered new ones. We spent time looking at the frost in our playground on Monday morning and looked at pictures and clips of wintery landscapes and animals.
We know some animals go to sleep in winter whilst others are very busy keeping their tummies full like the squirrels   ๐Ÿฟ
Lots of lovely non-fiction writing. well done.

Well done to all of the children that are working hard with their reading at home.  Our Class reading chart is well and truly underway now, with some children already having reached their first 'milestone'.
The challenge is to read your way along the path to the Enchanted Castle...with five 'stops' along the way where children will pick up stamps for their reading journals.  To move along the chart we have to see in the journal that the children have read at home with a grown up, which I know many of you do, but not all record it, please use the journal to help the children on their journey.
On completion of the chart the children will gain a certificate to bring home.

It hasn't gone unoticed by the children, that both Class 3 and Class 2 have recently had themed  days and come to school dressed up.
Next week we start all things Christmassy in Class 1, along with the build up to our virtual Pantomine - Cinderella.
Please start thinking ahead as we would love our children to come dressed with a Cinderella theme on Friday 11th December.
(There is a letter regarding this in reading bags today)

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Week Beginning 16th November

  Namaste!

Take a look at how we started our week exploring yet another pose: SEAL pose.

As well as revising some of the tricky poses we have learnt over the past few weeks we try to introduce a new one each week.
The children enjoyed pretending to be little seals swimming under the sea. Straight arms and legs, bent back here we come!

Which one is your favourite TV show or movie?
Children were 'inspired' by the our box TVs and drew pictures of some of their favourite things they watch on telly.
'My favourite movie is The Lion King'
'I like Spiderman'.

‘I’m watching Happy Feet’

           I like watching Princess Sophia.

๐Ÿš“National Safety Week๐Ÿš’
We shared many chats about keeping safe when near a road and how to cross safely.
STOP!
LOOK!
LISTEN!
Why do we have to listen??
We spent some time outside observing the traffic on our road and listened.... We could hear some cars going past but others were really quiet.
‘It’s so quiet!’

'I can hear something!!' 'I think it's a car!!'

We also made some cool 'Bag Tags' to help make our journey to and from school a little safer during the darker days...We investigated different materials and learnt what was meant by Flourescent by day, Reflective by night.
With the help of a little dark den and some artificial light, it all became clear.

''Ah these are bright so they can keep us safer!''

Ta-dah!

A little bit of Science....๐Ÿฆ ❗️
Why do we have to wash our hands?
We all agree germs are not very nice and we can't really seem them.
We found some fake germs (glitter) and put them on one hand. We rubbed our hands together  guess what?? The germs starting spreading!

                                                    Disaster!!!

Quick! Wash your hands with cold water!
Oh no! there are still germs left on our hands!!
We better use soap and warm water....

Phew! That's better. Clean hands.

Outside, we transferred what we had found out about road safety to our very own roadway...

Maths we have been learning about adding two sets of numbers together to find a total.

''Look 5 and 3 make 8 altogether.''

Finally our independent writing skills have taken another jump this week, some of us have enjoyed some colouring pictures and then created our own sentences to accompany them, take a look.

He is happy and so were the grown ups to this wonderful writing!

A busy week as you can see, after a cold start this morning and probably more to come, can you please send a pair of gloves with your child now.  We spend a lot of time outside throughout the day, not just at playtimes.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Week Beginning 9th November 2020

What a busy week!

So much to do and celebrate!!

We started off the week by introducing THE Children in Need's  'Five to Thrive' well being programme and talked about: CONNECT, TAKE NOTICE, GET ACTIVE, BE CURIOUS AND GIVE.

We also celebrated Remembrance Day and discussed why we wear poppies and raise money.

Take a look at some of the poppies children made in class....

We have also looked at pictures of poppies and found objects from around the room that matched the colours in the pictures.

Of course we continued working on a new yoga pose: Cobra Snake.
This pose is particularly good for strengthening the spine, stretching the chest, lungs and shoulders. It also invigorates the heart ❤๐Ÿ’›❤

While spending some time independently some children have been really stretching their independent writing skills this week, just look what Darcey and Isla have been up to out in the sunshine, following a a game in Phonics this morning.

At the end of the week, we returned to our friend Pudsey with various activities to keep us busy.
Thank you to everyone who donated to this worthy cause.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

 Week beginning 2.11.20

Welcome back after half term...we are so pleased to be here again.

We have made the most of the weather this week as the sun has been shining and we haven't been bothered by so much rain thankfully.

This week we have started to think about different Celebrations and why they happen.  We started with Fireworks and the story of Guy Fawkes.

Have a look at some of things that we have been doing...

Well done everyone, a brilliant first week back in Class 1.

Next week we will be selling Poppy's etc for Remembrance Day, if you wish to buy something, please put your donation in a sealed envelope with a note saying what you would like.  Please do not send in your child with loose change.

We have had to use lots of our spare clothes in Class 1 for various different reasons (mostly involving the water tray :)) if you have borrowed any clothes please could you wash and return them as soon as possible, many thanks.

Have a lovely weekend.
