Friday 19 July 2019

We have reached the end of our last full week in Class 1 and what a busy one it has been.

Children have been 'finishing off' many different things ready for their forthcoming move to Class 2 such as phonics assessments and much more.

Thursday we had another very sporty day, thanks to Mr Sanders for our PE session and whole school rounders matches.
Hopefully House Points will be totalled next week and the overall winner for the year can be announced.

If you ask the children their thoughts on what was the most important thing to happen in Class 1 this week, I think they would all have the same answer.....

A special visit from Mrs Webb and her beautiful baby.

Please can you make sure that the children have a plastic bag in school to bring home their art and things next week.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Week Beginning 8th July 2019

We started the week with our trip to the Foxburrow Farm. Everybody enjoyed themselves and all children behaved impeccably. Well done.
Have a look at some of the pictures we have taken on the day.
A warm goodbye from the older children...

And off we went...

Once there we got into our groups and explored the meadow with a fun game.

Sweeping nets activity to explore the wild life in and around the hedges.

Can you spot the man made object?

Can you spot some little explorers...?

We learnt a lot about where food comes from and how to grind grains of wheat to make flour.

We tasted rapeseed oil and even had a go at crushing rape seeds to observe the oil come out of them.

Congratulations and well done to everyone who took part in Sport's Day!
What fantastic sportsmen and ladies we all are.

You should all feel very proud of yourselves.

On Friday we still managed to save enough energy for a Big Write.  Using the plot from the hungry caterpillar we changed the main character and the food they ate.
Our independent writing is really developing now...

Congratulations to Freya, our Golden Book winner today for always trying so hard in class and being a kind and caring friend.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Week Beginning 1st July 2019

This week the world has come to our classroom with e little help from our new book:
The world really does come to visit George when his grandpa arrives to look after him and his sister for the day. Grandpa explains how everything from the food they eat for breakfast and the chocolate bars they love come form different places around the world.
We had a good look at the map of the world and the globe to find some of the countries mentioned in the book.
We have started to make a food passport which we will use next week for our food tasting around the world....

Our role play area is now set up as a restaurant/cafe' where children have been busy cooking lovely meals for each other.

We enjoyed the lovely weather outdoors where children role-played first aid for poorly feet.

'Now, if you put your broken foot in here it will get fixed'.

First aid was also given to pretend pets. 'Put your paw in here. It will get better'.

A HUGE WELL DONE to all the children in Class One for coping so well with our first transition day. Everyone came back excited and had a lot of positive things to say about their morning in Class Two.
We are looking forward to our trip next week!
