Week Beginning 5.6.2017

Welcome back to the second half of Summer Term. We hope you all had time to relax with friends and family members and the children have had fun!
This week we have added another traditional story to our increasing collection: The Little Red Hen'.
The Little Red Hen, talks about what happens when the Red Hen plants a grain of wheat.
This lead to wheat being harvested, flour being milled and bread then made. Consequently, this gave us just the excuse to make and eat bread for snack and to try bread tasting from around the world.

In PE we continued the Raft Game Challenge where children had to work out a way to move the rafts across the hall. This time children found an easier ay to move the mats, take a look:

"We could carry the mat over"

"We could slide the mat across".

Our work with the Little Red Hen would not have been complete without the chance to make our own rolls.

Lots of stirring and kneading needed.

Before eventually shaping our rolls ready to prove.

They looked and delicious and unfortunately the smell was too inviting so we cannot show you a picture of the finished result as they have all gone!

Another exciting thing has happened, Maggie (as we have now named her) has had her chicks so we took a walk across the field to see how they were looking 3 days after hatching.

There are 5 in total, we look forward to seeing how they will grow and change over the next few weeks.

Congratulations to Dotty, our Golden Book winner this week for being such a kind friend to someone who was feeling a little upset.
