Week Beginning 4th June 2019

Welcome back everyone!
We have based our planning on our new book: 'The Snail and the Whale' by Julia Donaldson. We have introduced the story to the children who have thoroughly enjoyed using the 'talk for writing' to support their learning and help our understanding of the text.

We are also working hard in phonics and some of the children are able to write independent sentences with some tricky sounds like the split digraph o-e.

Fantastic work!

We have also been very clever in maths working on doubling numbers.
'You count all the fingers and work out the answer'.

'What's double zero?'

Some topic themed activities and challenges for children to complete over the week.

Sorting the mixed up sentences, a test for our independent reading skills.  'I know that goes first because it has a capital letter and that is at the end because it has a full stop.''

Making paper snails by rolling the paper around our fingers.

Sea themed artwork, 'Look there's a star fish, some pebbles and some seaweed.'

We have welcomed two new faces into Class 1 this week.  Jake has joined us along with Miss Pace.  We hope that they have both enjoyed their first week.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
