Week Beginning 20.5.2019

This week we have continued to work on the book  'The Train Ride'.
Children have pretended to be away on holiday and sent a postcards to some special people.

In maths we have set up a tickets shop for children to buy tickets to their favourite destinations. They then had to find the correct coins
'I'm going to need coins...with one on it'

'One, two, that's it, 2p'

Great thinking!
On top of all that and since the weather was pretty good children spent time cooking in the mud kitchen and setting up a BBQ where the most amazing food was prepared.

'I'm making a vegetables pie for you'

They even thought about decorating a table cloth for their guests.

Our money work continued through the week in the form of some problem solving...Qu;  If I am going to the zoo and I need a train ticket and an underground ticket, how much will it cost altogether?
Ans; Use your pennies to add them up.

Wednesday afternoon was special in Class 1... Mrs Webb came for her last visit before she has her baby.
Preparations got underway making her a lovely card.

Mrs Webb arrived for the afternoon with goodies for all, we had a lovely time planting our own flowers to take home and look after.

Thanks to the big boys in Class 4 who delivered us some of their compost to top up the pots.

The children made Mrs Webb promise that she will come and visit with her baby as soon as things are settled.
We wish her lots of luck and have to say a HUGE thank you for all of her hard work.

Well done to Eli our golden book winner today for fantastic Maths and Reading in class.

We hope that the weather has changed for Summer now.  As you can see Class 1 children spend a lot of time outside throughout the course of the day, please make sure they have a sunhat in school.

All that is left to say is Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and Half Term.
From All Class 1 Staff.
