Week beginning 27th February

This week we have been incredibly busy, we had our first 'Brilliant Book Week' in school. we also had pancake day, world book day....
The whole school started the week reading the story of 'Halibut Jackson' by David Lucas. Loads of different activities have been carried out in each class and children had the opportunity to work in their houses. Have a look at what we have being doing:

Here we are showing off our crowns made as an independent challenge.

 Beautiful art work children!

Pressure is on in view of our school pancake race...
"Let's flip the pancake"

Blue House had the privilege to taste some  rather tasty pancakes inspired by the royal garden  party Halibut Jackson went to in the story...

Children worked in their houses and created different outfits for Halibut Jackson. Our was inspired by the sea.

Once again Class 1 showed great team work in their houses and what skills flipping those pancakes.

Wednesday, the children were back in their own rooms and some of Class 1 heard a mutter of the fact that Blue house had had pancakes Tuesday afternoon, So guess what we made our own...

Thursday was World Book day and the children had an enjoyable day finding out who their friends had come dressed as.  We also enjoyed many book themed activities such as shared reading, data collection to create graphs of the children's favourite books and much more.  Class 1 also attempted their first big write, retelling the story of Halibut Jackson in their own words, fantastic writing everyone.  The children were lucky enough to have their chosen book to take home with them again this year.  Many thanks to Halesworth Book Shop again for supplying the books for us.

Friday, the children were back in their house teams to face the challenge of designing and making a costume that Halibut could put in his shop, wow!  Teamwork and cooperation were evident as some children created artwork and others designed and made the costume.  We even had a palace built from lego.
A rainbow suit that Halibut could wear...

After pooling design ideas, White House decided on a caveman themed design...
Making in progress... An earth coloured tabbard with grass/moss effects for camouflage.  A bone necklace and cave art for decoration.  Not forgetting a bear skin shrug and a bone hat.  Well done everyone who helped.
All houses then paraded their costumes in Golden Book assembly at the end of the day, well done to our models.

To conclude, I think we can definitely say it really has been a 'brilliant book week'

Congratulations to Lilly N our Golden Book winner for your super big write.
