Week Beginning 11.3.2019

Welcome back to a new week. This time we've been going on a bear hunt with the help of Michael Rosen and his wonderful book.

Once again the children surprised us as most of them already knew the story which is often a great advantage.

We have started the week by drawing portraits of a bear. We looked at a professional bear portrait and did our best to draw our own version of it.
'I can smudge it with my fingers'.

Can you guess what media has been used to draw the bear?

In maths we have recapped on taking away. We rolled a die to select a number of counters. We then used another die to select a number to take away and then worked out the answers.

Well done everyone for checking your answers and for remembering how to take away.

In yoga we spent more time practicing those tricky poses like Dog pose:
Coming down onto our knees and hands...lift hips towards the sky
Reach out with one of the legs and pretend it is our tail. Give it a wag up in the air.

A great pose for strengthening our arms and the back of our legs. Great!

Our Maths skills have featured in our independent activities too... Not only have we been challenging ourselves to work on the subtraction problems we have been solving in class this week, but George has also remembered the addition skills he learnt last week, well done.

We have also had some more super writing this week in class, the children are really beginning to show a great understanding of how the sounds fit into the individual words and also how these words can then make sentences.

Congratulations to Herb, our Golden Book winner today for a super attitude towards your writing in class.
