Weeki Beginning 18th March 2019

Another week spent working on 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'.
The children did a great job at creating the different settings from the story.

Some of us enjoyed working with wooden blocks and built an outline of their body...

As well as building with blocks children had the challenge to build words and write them in our rainbow sand.

Outdoors, we have been busy in the cave...

I wonder who these footprints could belong to?

Quick lets get out of here.

Back in class we were faced with an independent challenge; How do you get the bears across the river?

Easy, make a boat.

Other suggestions included, build them a bridge, make a bear chain so the one at the back runs across and the line gets smaller one by one each time.
Lots of independent thinking and problem solving, well done everyone.

Finally can we just say well done to everyone for being such super mathematicians this week, we have been doubling and halving numbers and the children have done so well.
By the end of the week everyone had a great understanding, that to double you need to add the same number to itself whereas to half a number, you need to cut it into two equal parts.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
